Fraser River Sturgeon Series Events 2013
Join us to experience the thrill of catching the Fraser River’s prehistoric giant – the great white sturgeon. Sleek and perfect, the white sturgeon of the Fraser River are the last truly wild population of this species in the world. Your participation in these “catch, tag & release” events support the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society’s award-winning, volunteer driven monitoring and assessment program and our continued efforts to understand, protect and restore this ancient species.
The Fraser River Sturgeon Series consists of TWO exhilarating days of tag and release sturgeon fishing on the mighty Fraser River - the first in the summer in the lower part of the river (Richmond) and the finale in our traditional fall location between Mission & Chilliwack.
Data collected from the Fraser River Sturgeon Series is used to guide the FRSCS scientific research priorities, advocacy and education strategies. Our data enables our experts to report on the health of the sturgeon population, make recommendations for better resource management and take action in priority areas that will benefit sturgeon.
Our 2013 two day conservation event is made possible thanks generous support from Langara Fishing Adventures, The Coast Chilliwack Hotel and all our sponsors. We are also very grateful to BC Sportfishing Group for continuing to provide their expert guide services for the Series!
The FRSCS is non-profit, charitable society. Funds raised support conservation efforts, advocacy and education to protect and restore the Fraser River white sturgeon. Visit regularly for updates on our events and ways you can help.
